Snapshot Usage

You have the choice of two Live Data Snapshot Plans includes 400 or 800 Snapshots of Equities, Warrants and ASX Options Data per month. Additional Snapshot usage is charged at $1.32 per 20 updates (6.6c each inc GST). The questions listed below can help you understand and manage your live snapshot usage.

Remember if you are a heavy data user or day trader, you may wish to consider our premium Dynamic Data Plan. To learn more about this plan click here.
What is a snapshot?
Because we have to pay royalties to the ASX when we pass live data on to you, we need to count the data that you use.

We count a single snapshot if you click the "request" button on your watchlist or market depth (and an options screen; options users see below). If you request a watchlist that has more than 33 stocks, the ASX require us to pay additional royalties, so we actually charge you one snapshot for each 33 stocks (Eg, if your watchlist has 35 stocks, requesting it will count for 2 snapshots).

If you select a single stock in your watch list, that is also counted as a single snapshot. (This can happen by clicking on the stock, or pressing the up or down arrow on your keyboard).

If you request a chart with the latest live data, that is counted as half a snapshot (two live chart updates make one snapshot).

The sync feature in the Bourse can help you get the most out of your snapshot usage. For more information read the section below.
When are snapshots counted?
Snapshots are counted between the hours of 9.30 am and 5.05 pm (Sydney time) on ASX trading days. If you request data outside of these hours, it will not count as a snapshot.
What If I have the dynamic options add-on?
If you have elected to use the dynamically updated Options data service, your options prices will update automatically when you are looking at an options screen, so you do not have to click the request button. If you do click the request button, it will update the underlying equity's share price displayed at the top of the options screen, and one snapshot will be counted.
What is the sync feature and how do I use it?
The SYNC switch is located in the grey area at the bottom right-hand corner of your Bourse window. Double click the switch to toggle between SYNC: ON and SYNC: OFF. If SYNC is set to on, when you click on a stock in your watchlist, any other open windows will update at the same time, maximising the benefit of your single snapshot. Please note, that if you have an ASX Options watchlist open this will count as a separate watchlist update and therefor will incur one snapshot.

If you use a Bourse Layout with more than one window, for example: a watchlist, market depth screen, and a chart, with the sync feature on, when you select a stock from your watchlist all of the open windows will be updated and you will only be charged for one snapshot. In the above example, viewing data in each of these windows separately (if sync was off) would count as two-and-a-half-snapshots.
What if I use more screenshots than I have been allocated?
Your first 400 or 800 Snapshots in a calendar month (depending on your subscrition level) are included free in your Live Data Snapshot Plan. Additional Usage will attract an Excess Usage charge at the rate of $1.32 per 20 Snapshots (6.6c each). Excess Usage charges will appear on your next invoice after the end of the calendar month.

If you find you are frequently using more than your allocated Snapshot Usage, you may be interested in updating to our Dynamic Data Plan - To learn more about this plan click here.
How do I monitor my snapshot usage?
You can monitor your snapshot usage from the Account Status page. To ensure optimum performance of your software we update this data source at midnight every second day, so it may not reflect your usage for today and yesterday.

If you need more information about snapshots and how they are counted, please contact our customer care team.
